“Even Jumping Rope Causes Urine Leakage…” How to Improve Urinary Incontinence Symptoms
As the weather warms and summer approaches, many people are focusing on weight management. With outdoor activities becoming more feasible after the cold winter, Park (46, female), who had started jumping rope and running to lose weight in the pleasant weather, found herself in an embarrassing situation. As her abdominal pressure increased during exercise, she experienced unexpected urine leakage, wetting her underwear.
When engaging in activities such as jumping rope, running, coughing, sneezing, or lifting heavy objects, abdominal muscles naturally tense up. This increases intra-abdominal pressure, which stimulates the bladder. If the pelvic floor and vaginal muscles—already loosened due to pregnancy, childbirth, or aging—are unable to provide sufficient support, urine may leak involuntarily without the person even realizing it.
The more abdominal fat a person has, the greater the intra-abdominal pressure, which further irritates the bladder. As a result, people who want to exercise to reduce belly fat may find themselves unable to do so because of urinary incontinence. Even with a slight increase in exercise intensity, urine leakage may occur, or embarrassing situations such as vaginal air sounds may happen during Pilates or gym workouts. For those who find it difficult to consistently exercise due to such symptoms, it is advisable to treat urinary incontinence first and then begin exercising.
One option for improving urinary incontinence symptoms is vaginal laser treatment. Unlike conventional methods, the vaginal laser Venercell is a non-surgical approach that can help improve urinary incontinence. It does not require incisions, sutures, or anesthesia, and hospitalization is unnecessary. Each session takes about 15 minutes, allowing patients to return to daily activities immediately afterward. While experiences vary by individual, discomfort is generally limited to a mild sensation of heat and does not interfere with everyday life. By delivering energy to the vaginal mucosa, the treatment promotes the rearrangement and increase of collagen fibers within the vaginal wall, thereby improving vaginal elasticity. It also helps strengthen the urethral muscles, which can lead to improvements in urinary incontinence symptoms. In addition, it contributes to overall vaginal health, including relief from vaginal dryness, vaginal laxity, and vaginitis.
Hospital Director Park Yeon-yi (OB-GYN specialist) of Seoul Miz Hospital stated, “Venercell is a method that can improve urinary incontinence by enhancing the overall vaginal environment. Since treatment should be performed based on an accurate diagnosis of vaginal condition, it is advisable to receive the procedure from medical professionals with extensive clinical experience and expertise in urinary incontinence treatment.”
Urinary incontinence does not resolve on its own if left untreated and often worsens over time. It can also lead to frequent recurrence of vaginitis and cystitis due to bacterial backflow. Therefore, active treatment at the appropriate time is essential.

Laser Treatment for Comprehensive Improvement of Women’s Gynecological Conditions
Interest in gynecological procedures among women is steadily increasing. Among the most common reasons women visit obstetrics and gynecology clinics are frequently recurring conditions such as vaginitis, urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness, and vaginal laxity.
As awareness and interest in treatments for these conditions grow, more women consider undergoing procedures. However, the main reasons many ultimately postpone treatment include fear of pain, concerns about cost, and the lengthy duration of conventional therapies.
The Venercell (Venusxel) laser offers a non-surgical approach that differs from traditional treatment methods and can help address these conditions. Its greatest advantage is that it does not require incisions, sutures, or anesthesia, eliminating the need for hospitalization. Each session takes approximately 15 minutes, allowing patients to return to their daily activities immediately afterward. Discomfort is minimal, typically limited to a mild sensation of warmth, and does not interfere with everyday life. By delivering thermal energy to the vaginal tissue, the treatment helps induce vaginal tightening and stimulates collagen regeneration in the vaginal skin, supporting the formation of healthy vaginal mucosa. This can lead to improvements in urinary incontinence and vaginal dryness, as well as enhanced sexual satisfaction.
Dr. Hwang Sun-ah, Medical Director (OB-GYN specialist) at Ihae & Gonggam Women’s Clinic, explained, “Vaginal laser treatments promote collagen regeneration, leading to rapid improvement in vaginal dryness. According to numerous clinical results, urinary incontinence, painful urination, and stress urinary incontinence are also significantly improved, playing a major role in restoring patients’ confidence.”
She added, “For women suffering from recurrent vaginitis or vaginal laxity, laser treatment can improve the overall vaginal environment, helping with both treatment and prevention. Since procedures should be performed based on an accurate diagnosis tailored to each patient’s vaginal condition, it is advisable to receive treatment from medical professionals with extensive experience and expertise.”
